To have a home and a safe living is a true luxury today. But more and more people try to
escape from their home circumstances. Escape is a process which shapes our global condition
since decades. People keep fleeing because of hunger, persecution, political or religious
oppression etc. The fact that this seems still the only resolution of problems and fears is
frightening and unpromising. Even though there are more procedures and ways of fleeing
today, this doesn‘t imply that refugees endure less physical and psychological traumata.
„Enter Paradise“ enables visitors to enter the experience of refugee escape on a psychological
level. The intention is to lay out four stages of escaping: The home, the escape route, the
arrival and the identity loss. I identified these stages while researching the theme. !
The title „Enter Paradise“ emerges as a metaphor and a truthful subtle irony to what refugees
withstand. The action of entering a place which implicates that paradise is destroyed by reality
and actuality. Paradise is never found: It never existed.
